Hot Chocolate Bombs: The Dessert Craze of 2020

If you haven’t heard of hot chocolate bombs yet, where have you been?! This dessert craze has taken over the 2020 holiday season. At this point, after such a horrible year it doesn’t take much to put a smile on our faces. It’s the little things that are getting us all through each day.

So what exactly is a hot chocolate bomb?

These “bombs” are essentially a hallow ball of chocolate filled with hot coca mix, marshmallows and other yummy fillings. When you pour hot milk over the ball, it will begin to dissolve and “explode” into a decadent hot chocolate concoction.

A ball of chocolate that melts into ooy, gooey goodness? Sure sign me up!

If you have heard of HCB (Hot Chocolate Bombs), then you may also be aware that after going viral on social media they are nearly impossible to find. Due to the novelty and nostalgia the HCB induces, they have quickly turned into a hot ticket item for Christmas 2020. I found myself scanning Google to see if anywhere had them available and could guarantee availability before next week.

As a Loveland, Ohio native I am very familiar with Branch Hill Coffee. My childhood home is less than 5 minutes from their doors and my family has been customers for years.

Side Note: Branch Hill Coffee easily has some of the best coffee I’ve had, including every sugar free syrup you can imagine. Hello skinny lattes for days! I also live and swear by their scones and chicken salad sandwich.
